well the weather is back to seasonal norms now but here's what i wore last sunday during the heat wave. i guess this is my contribution to the "cropped tee outfit" category in the fashion/style blogosphere.

ITEMS (rollover mouse to view detailed picture)
lace bralette
Seneca Rising cropped tee
Rick Owens Lilies skirt, folded in half
Soixante Neuf tusk necklace
nude leather flip flops from Scoop

Outfit Details

i wore the lace bralette over my more practical but unattractive bra because the tee is cut quite low.

i was not out for very long since i'm not a big fan of the heat. i bought some filet mignon and an heirloom tomato for dinner (the lady at the checkout counter at fairway looked at me and asked "$4.95 for ONE tomato. do you still want it?" i nodded my head, though i kind of wished she had made the mistake of ringing it up as a regular tomato, like the last time i bought an heirloom tomato). quite extravagant during a recession, but i'm only cooking for one and besides i could not find anything i wanted at topshop in my size. haha.

filet mignon with crumbled goat cheese and balsamic syrup; fingerling potatoes roasted with herbes de provence; caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomato

thanks for all your comments!

RE: html code. i can't take credit for it. although i did take a programming course to fulfill a requirement in engineering school, i'm out of practice and not really that good at it. i figure if the code is already out there, why bother. if you view the source code for any page on my blog you'll find the credit somewhere in there and can even copy it if you like, just keep the tag to give credit where credit is due. i did have to tweak it somewhat, mostly for formatting issues, but the code is pretty simple, especially if you know a bit of html.

early summer, a gift from the weather gods.

lovely day yesterday, this was the perfect all day-to-all night outfit choice. without the tank underneath i probably would have spent the entire day checking to make sure i wasn't flashing anyone instead of simply enjoying the weather.

oooh spooky... (i was having trouble with my camera's remote control the other day, but all is well now.)

Photobucket

my enjoyment of the gorgeous weather was somewhat marred by all the booty shorts and muffin-top emphasizing tanks i witnessed this past saturday. c'mon people, it's not like it was 100 degrees and humid. maybe i'm just getting old.

and since when is a vanilla cone with chocolate dip (my "usual" from the ice cream trucks - i LOVE ice cream, but i am lactose intolerant so i just suffer through the pain... isn't life cruel) $4.00?! say what???!!!

boy did i pick a beautiful day to go to the dentist! had a check-up and cleaning, took the entire day off since i never call out sick and have accrued quite a bit of paid time off. i like my dentist, he's not one of those people with unrealistic expectations like giving up coffee or red wine, and he always notices and compliments my footwear. his midtown east office is also dangerously close to great shopping. just in case i've had a bad trip (like the time i needed a root canal... ouch), it's within walking distance of barneys.

men's weathered tee
Rag & Bone khakis
Office London boots (via Topshop)
Costume National tuxedo jacket
vintage glass necklace from Asia
Soixante Neuf tusk necklace
pearl and diamond ring
2008 Balenciaga duffel bag

Outfit Details

those who followed me on stylediary will recognize this Costume National jacket. it is so old now, but still looks crisp. and how cute are these boots?! i was actually in between pedicures today but really wanted to wear these boots, so i hastily applied polish only to the toes that were visible. haha, it's a good thing i didn't go shoe shopping today, that would have been very embarrassing!

i've been wearing these boots as often as i can because i know i'll miss them when the weather gets warm (if it ever does... it SNOWED on wednesday... wtf.) i bought this cross pendant from portobello market in london but haven't gotten 'round to finding a proper chain for it, so i just strung it through a jersey belt that came with one of my dresses.

Balenciaga boy fit blazer
Miu Miu motorcycle boots
vintage cross pendant from Portobello market in London
Elizabeth & James knuckle ring and hammered silver ring from the Met
Marc by Marc Jacobs bag
Ann Demeulemeester scarf

Outfit Details

by the time i walked out the door my outfit changed slightly with the addition of a shoddy manicure and my ann demeulemeester scarf and topshop ribbed beanie.

oh! and while on the 1 train i sat across from cynthia nixon, she ran in right as the doors were closing at either the 86th or 79th st. stop, i forgot which. she was wearing these awesome greenish alligator (?) boots and white jeans, which i was a little puzzled by because white pants are never a good wardrobe choice for stormy weather like we had yesterday. she looked lovely even without makeup, her pale pale skin is absolutely flawless. that makes two subway sightings this year, the first being caroline kennedy on the 6 train. i have yet to see mayor bloomberg on the train though he swears he rides it. that would be quite economical, he lives 4 blocks away from the 77th st stop on the 6 and it goes straight to city hall. yeah right he takes the subway.

saturday, april 4th '09 and misc purchases

i was let off early from work today thanks to the intersection of Jewish and Christian holidays, which is very exciting because a) it kind of feels like a 3-day weekend now, and b) i get to share some of my latest purchases!

visited topshop nyc late last friday and picked up a couple of things, including this embroidered tunic which can be worn as a dress if you're a shortie like i am. i wore this outfit last saturday, met up with the family for dinner on the UWS.

ITEMS (rollover mouse to view detailed picture)
vintage leather jacket
Topshop embroidered tunic worn as minidress
Ann Demeulemeester scarf
Chloe pull-on boots

Outfit Details
i also purchased this navy one-shoulder dress at topshop and an amazing feather necklace from greenflea market. not quite sure where i'll be wearing this outfit to, but maybe sans fancy necklace with just simple flat sandals i can get away with it. it's 100% cotton and so comfortable, i'm sure i'll figure out a way to wear it casually in the summer.

?? sometime in february 2009

found an old picture on my camera that i haven't posted yet, from this winter, sometime in february.

Photobucket

ITEMS (rollover to view detailed picture)
Yohji Yamamoto silk tunic
Yves Saint Laurent flat boots
flea market necklace
American Apparel turtleneck
H&M tights

Outfit Details

i made several alterations to this Yamamoto tunic. i took out the sleeves because they were too tight along my lower arm. i also took it in at the sides along the armpits because apparently this tunic was made for someone with like a triple D-cup chest, which i am definitely not equipped with. lol.
